COLLECTIVE CREATION FOR THEATRE/PERFORMANCE with Kim Collier 9:30pm – 12:30pm Cafe Molo $30
Collective Creation is a alternative to traditional playwriting in building a piece of theatre. Often this kind of play building explodes with creativity from the collective experience in which one idea from one person stimulates another, which stimulates another. When you create in a group you have the option to work on your feet, build images and work in a way that allows the physical body, images and the written word to be part of the writing process. But working together to build a play can be incredibly challenging work. This workshop will offer ideas about how to move through a creative process collectively and build on your collective strengths. We will explore ways to generate material and refine material. If all goes well, we will build a tiny show in one hour flat.
As a participant you should bring:
- a newspaper headline.
- a personal item (prop) invested with meaning
- a photograph or image from a magazine that you find intriguing
- a line or two of poetry, if you want.

SERIOUS CLOWNING with Aron DeCasmaker 3:30pm – 5:30pm Cafe Molo – $20
“The way in which the clown plays is very special. He uses not only his normal virtuosity as an actor, but also the frequent appearance of a playmate: the flop. In my school, we call him Mr Flop, because we treat him with a hell of a lot of respect. Mr Flop says to the clown: ‘Salvage what you can.’ So the clown lets the audience see the great delight of a child who wants to stay on the stage, and who lets out a very special yell. We still love him. He has saved the show.” - Philippe Gaulier
A quickie clown workshop for all!. Come and get some fun tools for both playing and creation! Flex your muscles (acting and other) as we explore the flop, the pleasure of play and games and the joy of being ridiculous! Rooted in the teachings of Philippe Gaulier this workshop is both a great introduction for newcomers and the perfect workout for more experienced actors/musicians/ writers … & audience members!
